Anime Product Misplacement
I've named this section Product Misplacement as that's the best name I could come up with for what it's about - items and logos seen in Anime that nearly, but not quite, amount to product placement.
I'll start the ball rolling with this cheekily altered logo from Neon Genesis Evangelion episode 9 (possibly the funniest episode of the whole series) with the real deal for comparison.
And here is Miyabi's 'BMW' Z3 from Ai Yori Aoshi, and again the genuine article to compare.
Next up is the 'Sany' Digital camera used in I My Me! Strawberry Eggs (which I'm pretty sure is really a Sony Cybershot DSC-F505 or similar)
Here's one of my personal favourites, the 'Somy Vaoi' PC from X
In keeping with the current Sony theme is a Somy personal Minidisk player form the first episode of Full Metal Panic (click the image to see the full spread of items including a Wonderswan Color and what look suspicously like Pokémon cards.)
And yet the mighty Sany corporation strikes again with this screenshot from Akira
Taking a break from Sony, how about a nice cool sweaty can of Bepsi, courtesy of Witch Hunter Robin? (thanks for this go to codeman38 on the Engrish.com message boards)
And another outside submission, a kind person on the UMAA newsgroup pointed out this little gem from Onegai Twins episode 11 (if you can't make it out, it reads 'Starjackass Coffee'.)
Spotted a couple in Battle Programmer Shirase - The BHL shipping company and an Ebson notebook
And behold the mighy Minboms 99 OS running on Kazuto's PC in Narue no Sekai.
Aha! A clearer picture of a Bepsi can from Witch Hunter Robin and, even better, Cock Cola! (sorry about the low quality)
More AYA, from Ai Yori Aoshi Enishi episode 7 this time, a variation on a familiar party game.
And a new entry courtesy of Hellsing Order 5, with a tasty bottle of Toca Cola.
As soon as I saw this camera in Popotan episode 1 I started singing "Monica, colours are calling me...".
This 2nd camera, a Mikon, in Poptan 7 was a very nice touch.
Sorry no updates for a while, but here's two: a Citizun clock from .hack//Liminality volume 1..
..and another Sany TV, hot off the press from brand new series Midori no Hibi.
More camera shenanigans from Onegai Twins with this pair of a Conon (Canon) SLR and a digital Olympos Camodia (Olympus Camedia).
I think it's fairly obvious which popular film this Quririx movie poster from Da Capo is spoofing :)
Can't remember where I took these PC clips from unfortunatealy..
Meant to add this clip from Full metal Panic ep 2 a long time ago but I guess I mislaid it.
Everyone's favourite Japanese snack, Rocky (from Aishiteru ze Baby)
Still getting the digs in at Sony, a Somy TV from Elfen Lied.
From Gantz: Ain't the real thing, but it still is cool :)
A jumble of computer references: iMat (Apple iMac), VIBM (IBM) and HAL9000 (From Arthur C. Clarke's 2001: A Space Odyssey). Didn't make a note of the source, but it may be Rahxephon.
From Najica Blitz Tactics, a shop from the well known His Voice's Master chain.
The last of this run of updates come from new gimik series Uta~Kata, the famous Golden... Valleys? of WcDonald's.
And, unusual for me to be back so soon, here's some Coke antics from Rozen Maiden..
.. and Beck (with a guest appearance from Starducks).
And finally for today, another movie spoof courtesy of Kimi ga Nozomu Eien.
A public submission now by Wong Fei Hung, more 'Bepsi' from Dai Guard.
Yup, long time no update and all that.. got a pile of screenshots to work through (not all of them named) but I'll start with my all-time favourite from Full Metal Panic! The Second Raid, a warning of what you get if you eat too much..
